About coordinated plans
Each UN coordinated inter-agency coordinated plan has a page on FTS, which present all funding linked to the requirements of the coordinated plan; this funding is a subset of overall funding to the affected country. The coordinated plans are a key part of the humanitarian programme cycle (HPC) used by humanitarian country teams to plan and coordinate a response and to communicate the scope of response operations.
Flash Appeal for Afghanistan launched by the United Nations Secretary-General.
Forty years of war, recurrent natural disasters, chronic poverty, drought and the COVID-19 pandemic have left 18.4 million people in need of humanitarian assistance. The full implications of the recent political transition on the country’s basic services, financial systems and markets will take time to manifest but a severe deterioration of the situation is expected. Humanitarians have already witnessed a deepening of need for a larger number of people and further complications to an extremely challenging operational context. The Flash Appeal presents a strategic response to new emerging needs, alongside unmet needs in the 2021 Humanitarian Response Plan.
Humanitarians seek $606 million for the Flash Appeal to provide prioritised multi-sectoral assistance to 11 million people in the four remaining months of 2021. $193 million is needed to address new emerging needs and changes in operating costs, while $413 million is required for urgent unfunded assistance that was included in the original 2021 HRP.
To ensure an accurate reflection of financial requirements against needs and outstanding gaps, FTS encourages all donors and recipients to report all humanitarian funding in a timely manner, including announcements made at the High-level Ministerial Meeting on the Humanitarian Situation in Afghanistan.
