The project aims to contribute to socio economic recovery of the flood affected communities through the revitalization of the private sector in East of Libya. In nine months, the project will pilot the EDF type of approach to support MSE affected by floods to re-build capacity of businesses and to support local communities to access job opportunities. The project will provide in-kind support to selected SMEs in identified sectors who employe or used less than 20 employees before the floods. In cases where the MSEs is is completely destroyed, the support will support the SME to replace damaged assets, restore operations and hire the old employees back. While for SMEs that are still operational, the grant will act as a catalyst to create further jobs through the introduction of new machinery employed with potential for that are ready to resume production/services in Alshat, and Albayyada. The project will also adapt community participatory approaches to identify the needs and sectorial prioritization, in alignment with labour market to promote social cohesion. |
