The initiative intends to contribute to activity n.2 of Strategic Objective n.1 of the WFP Country Strategic Plan: "Support for the treatment and prevention of malnutrition in children aged 6 to 59 months" with a specific focus in the Somali region of Ethiopia. WFP will register children between 6 and 56 months, who show signs of moderate acute malnutrition (MAM), in the Targeted Supplementary Feeding Program - TSFP, providing them with Ready-to-Use Supplementary Food – RUSF. Additionally, the program will support pregnant and lactating women who register an average mid-upper arm circumference (MUAC) of less than 23 cm, register them into the TSFPs and providing them with specialized nutritious food (SNF). The program aims to prevent and treat cases of malnutrition among infants and children between 6 and 59 months, focusing also on pregnant and lactating women group (PLWG) to promote a more effective comprehensive response. |
